Relaunching an old brand
Show Notes

In today’s episode, I interview Matt Damman, one of the owners of Commando Lock.  They manufacture military grade padlocks in Detroit, MI.  The company has been around for decades, but recently they were struggling, so Matt came in and helped them relaunch and rebrand, and within the first year of joining the company, Commando Lock is now in Home Depot, Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, and several other national retailers.

Matt is also the inventor of Walkie Chalk, and in this interview, he shares a fascinating behind-the-scenes story from Shark Tank where he was given a deal from Kevin O’Leary, but then the episode never aired.  This is a really cool product that holds sidewalk chalk so you and your kids can play with it while standing up.

Check out this episode to learn my new favorite tagline, “Be Insanely Curious,” PLUS:

•How to “restart” a business with sluggish sales, whether it’s a business you’ve owned for years or one you are looking to acquire.
•How to get your product into retail, even if you don’t have retail experience or connections with buyers.
•How to raise funds from investors to help fuel growth.
